A great excuse to visit Angel Island! It's ridiculous that I've lived in the SF bay area for 5 years and still hadn't been there. It was quite worth the trip. The course consisted of 3 different loops around the island, each to be repeated 2 times, for a total of 6 loops. The first loop was the summit loop, on single track trail. The second loop was the "middle loop" partly on single track and partly on dirt road. The third loop was pavement around hte perimeter of the island. After completing the 3rd loop, I decided I wasn't up for another pavement loop, so I did the summit loop 2 more times instead (still completing 6 loops, for a total of 50K ± 0.5K). I was pleased because I was able to run the whole 50K, and this was my first 50K under 5 hours. It was also a beautiful course, a great day, and Wendell & Sarah were as great and friendly as always.
